Skipping

Lily is an expert at skipping.  She can skip backwards and cross her arms over and skip.  Charley saw Lily skipping and decided to have a go.  Charley was struggling a little bit but Lily was patient and showed Charley how to skip on the spot with the rope.  Keep persevering Charley you can do it!!!!  Well done Lily for sharing your skipping skills with Charley.  It is wonderful when we can learn from each other.

Achieving my Writing Goal

Lily has been working really hard on her writing during Literacy sessions.  She has achieved her goal of writing all the sounds she can hear in order.

Lily has chosen a new goal and wants to focus on starting her sentences with a capital letter.
Keep being a great author, Lily!

Pizza Sharing

In Maths, we have been learning what the word 'equal' means and how to share equally. Our teacher gave us a pizza that had been cut into halves or quarters. We had to pretend to be a pizza chef and make pizza toppings with play dough. We then had to share the toppings equally on to each piece of the pizza.

Riding Our Bikes

Reading and writing about things you enjoy makes literacy fun.  We have been reading lots of books about bikes and racing.   We wrote a letter home asking if we could bring our bike or scooter to school.  We had lots of fun and we shared our bikes and scooters with the children who couldn't bring their bikes that day.

We were all a bit tired after all that racing around!

Alba helped Lawrie ride her bike.  "Look ahead Lawrie I'll push

 you!"
Charley supporting Lily on Kairangi's scooter.

Kairangi demonstrated to the other children how to use the brake on the scooter to help you to stop.

Writing a letter home

Tomorrow we are going to ride our bikes at school.  We are learning and reading about lots of different bikes and what they can do.   We wrote a note home asking if we could bring our bikes to school.  Fingers crossed I am allowed too.  Whoops I forgot to write I need to bring my bike helmet too!

Cooperating

By working together and helping each other Giuliana, Lily and Autumn were able to complete this tricky puzzle. By finding and completing the edge pieces first they quickly finished the puzzle.

Writing Workshop

Lily's current writing goal is to use her resource card when she is writing her stories.  Today in our writing workshop we practised our goal.  First we read the words on the word card.  We then took turns calling out a word from the card then we all wrote it down on our whiteboard.  The tricky part was thinking of a sentence using our word.

Reading My Book

Monster Cake

Here is my monster cake.
It took a long time to make. I put lots of different things on it. The marbles are the body. The paper clips are the spikes. The pipe cleaner and the straw are the antennas and they hear everything.
I like my monster!

For Friday Surprise Day, we continued our exploration into patterns. Today we used music to create a pattern. Can your child explain their pattern? Can you make a new pattern together?

Our Houses

Easy Blog Photo
On our Friday Surprise Day we have been looking at a variety of houses and what makes them similiar and what makes them different. Our buddy and I made a house out of playdough.  We didn't peek at our buddies house while we created them but when we finished we compared our houses.

"Our houses are the same because they both have pools and have windows. Both houses have roofs but Maryam's roof is a triangle sharp and Lily's roof is a rectangle. Maryam's house has a slide but Lily's doesn't that is different."

My Puppet

Here is a picture of a Lily and her puppet, Rosie. We made puppets for Friday Surprise Day and our Whakangahau. Lily was so excited to make a puppet she made one at home. Then she was able to help others make their puppets.

"I was making my puppet at home and then I loved it. I put earrings on it and my Dad helped me."

Beach Day

Frankley School went to Nga Motu Beach. In the morning Te Kakano played in the sand. Lily used a small cup to make a line of sand towers. Then she used the top of the cup to make a pattern around each tower.

She spent a lot of time working on my sculpture.

"I made lots of little sand castles and then we stopped and we jumped on them. It was fun."

After I had finished, I went and helped my friends create a castle. We used seaweed and Mrs O helped us get water from the sea.

"We were getting water and then we got splashed by the big sea water."
